The Firelands Amateur Repeater Association (FARA) is an association
of amateur radio operators and their families in North Central Ohio,
that is dedicated to the operation and maintenance of a repeater
system that serves North Central Ohio. FARA sponsors the 146.805
repeater system located on the second highest point in Erie County
south of Berlin Heights. FARA is involved with Skywarn, a program
that works with the National Weather Service at Cleveland. During
times of severe weather, nets are called into action by NWS
and information is pooled and relayed to them for confirmation
of radar reports.
As a member of FARA you will have full voting privileges and
long-distance autopatch access through auto-dial slots with toll
free calls to Huron, Berlin Heights, and Norwalk. Calls to other
locations are the responsibility of the member calling. Members
are allowed two auto-dial slots.
We meet January thru November on the fourth Tuesday at the Erie
County Services Center, 2900 Columbus Ave. Sandusky at 7:00 p.m.
in the basement lunch room.
Membership is $10.00 a year for an individual and includes all
other licensed amateurs in the household.
